A collective, holistic and integrated approach towards achieving food security was the thrust of my key note address at the recent International Conference on Renewable Energy for Sustainable Development hosted by the Faculty of Physical Sciences of the University of Ilorin.
Represented by my Senior Legislative Aide, Barr. Salman Salman, I made a case for the nation to leverage on renewable energy solutions for sustainable development.
I strongly believe that embracing the use of renewable energy sources in the country will ensure that more Nigerians have access to clean and affordable energy which is an essential step towards poverty reduction, industrialization and an improved agricultural system.
So for me, the conference could not have come at a better time considering the electricity challenges the nation has been facing over the years.
