As Chairman of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Production Services, and Rural Development, I had the pleasure of hosting a delegation from the U.S. Department of Agriculture yesterday. The delegation was led by Mr. Christopher Bielecki, Agricultural Counselor at the U.S. Embassy in Nigeria, along with Carraway Cassandra, Political Officer at the U.S. Embassy Abuja, and Tolani Abegunde of the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

During this engagement, I was joined by my colleague and fellow committee member, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.

Our discussions focused on the strategic importance of strengthening agricultural trade relations between Nigeria and the United States. We discussed the need to foster sustainability, support agricultural imports and exports, and address critical challenges such as food safety, market access, and trade facilitation.

I look forward to a mutually beneficial and improved agricultural trade relations between Nigeria and the United States.
