The Senate Committee on Agriculture and Production Services held its inaugural meeting at the National Assembly.
As the chairman of this all-important committee, I had the privilege of presiding over the meeting and collaborating with other esteemed senators.
The main objective of the meeting was to establish the committee’s rules and outline its agenda.
During the meeting, we emphasized the essential need of ensuring nationwide food security in line with the president’s renewed hope agenda.
We acknowledged the agricultural sector’s inherent potential to be Nigeria’s largest source of employment.
We explored ideas to boost the agricultural sector’s contribution to Nigeria’s GDP through innovation and mechanization.
By the end of the meeting, we had committed to developing strategies for effective oversight functions that will transform the agriculture sector and pave the way for Nigeria’s economic development.
