Today, I attended the 2024 Public Lecture on “Constitutional Amendments and the Political Dynamics of State Policing in Nigeria organized by the Department of Political Science in collaboration with the Institute for Legislative Studies, University of Ilorin.
The keynote speaker, Distinguished Senate Leader, Sen. Michael Opeyemi Bamidele CON, advocated for a constitutional amendment to establish State Police as a measure to address the nation’s security challenges.
Public lectures such as this provide a valuable platform for engaging stakeholders, broadening our understanding of critical issues, and preparing the public for potential policy implementation.
