Yesterday at the plenary, I led the debate on my Cassava Flour (Mandatory Inclusion in Flour Production) Bill, 2023 (SB 254), which has passed its second reading in the Senate.

This legislation aims to reduce Nigeria’s $3 billion wheat import, boost cassava farming, and create jobs in the agriculture industry.

I appreciate my colleagues, former Senate President Ahmed Lawan, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, Senator Victor Umeh, Senator Mohammed Monguno, and Senator Abdul Ningi, for their support during the debate.

As the bill now moves to the Senate Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development for further deliberations, I remain committed to advancing policies that promote economic growth, create jobs and reduce our dependency on imports.
